Atlantic Challenge USA
Statement on Covid Prevention
As we all continue to learn more about the science behind Covid-19, the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, and the concerns of further spread, we remain hopeful that a greater availability of testing, increased access to vaccines, and a better understanding of prevention will make it possible to resume our summer Bantry Bay gig programs this July 2021. We will work to keep our participants informed on this evolving situation by email, and we will continue to post updates on the Atlantic Challenge USA website. We thank you for your patience, flexibility, understanding, and support.
Our program will take place exclusively outside to minimize transmission. We will take extra care with hand hygiene before and after boating. We will take care to sleep separately, unless there are members of a pod or household in the program who are sharing a tent. We will take extra care around hand hygiene and staying at least six feet apart during meal times. We believe with these strategies in place the risk can be managed appropriately. We also understand that the risk of contracting Covid on our program cannot be entirely eliminated. The overarching risk management principles for our programs, which are guided by the Maine CDC, and Sea Scouts, include:
● Physical distancing: Participants will physically distance six feet from one another when possible. All activities will take place outside.
● Face covering: Face coverings will be worn when physical distancing is not possible and at all times when in the boats.
● Hygiene: There will be increased meticulous attention to hand washing
● Screening for symptoms: Everyone does a daily health check for symptoms.
We will keep program participants informed of any changes in these practices as the situation changes. As of now, we will diligently follow these principles to minimize COVID-19 spread.
Before coming on our program, participants will be required to:
National Boy Scouts of America (includes Sea Scouts groups such as Atlantic Challenge USA)
Statement on Covid Prevention:
As always, the safety of our Scouts, volunteers, employees and communities is our top priority.
Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be informed by expertise from agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
We expect that everyone in Scouting will follow the guidelines listed below, which are based on the CDC’s guidance. In addition, we have instructed local councils to consult with their local and state health departments, as well as local chartered partners, in order to implement appropriate protocols to help keep members, volunteers, and employees safe.
Do not attend our Atlantic Challenge USA program if you or anyone you live with has been tested positive for COVID-19 or another illness and do not have the results back yet.
