Meet Dylan!
What are some of your favorite things about being part of AC? I love the boats and practicing, teaching, and learning good seamanship. We’ve had so many different, amazing people join us, and everyone has skills and stories. Exciting adventures happen every day, whether we’re sailing new waters and camping on new islands or hunkered down around a wood stove for a storm. There’s something inherent in adventuring in old wooden boats with a team that fosters communication, growth, empathy… many skills and qualities that reach far beyond our expeditions. How you became involved with AC? And how long ago? A friend introduced me to AC in 2013, and I signed up for the weeklong program that summer. I've been very involved ever since as a participant, photographer, and instructor! Have you had any other sailing/rowing experience? I rowed crew in high school, and I've helped on a few sailboat deliveries on the East Coast. Where do you currently live? Portland, Maine. What are some things you do in your professional life or study beyond AC? I'm a filmmaker and photographer by profession, and I also play and listen to a lot of traditional music. I find that filmmaking, boating, and music often overlap in my life, and it's wonderful. What are some of your hobbies? Other than filmmaking, music, boating... I really love dystopian/sci-fi media; I get into some woodworking once in a while; surfing, snowboarding, cross country skiing; travel. If you could wake up with a new skill tomorrow, what would it be? Forging/welding, or possibly knowledge of electricity and circuits. Is there an animal you feel a kinship with? Horseshoe Crab Favorite meal/food? Burrito Favorite song to sing while rowing? "Randy Dandy Oh" is pretty great. |
